The past influenced the woman, to go to the well during the hottest time of the day.  Her intentions were to avoid, the other women's whispers, mockery, laughter, scorns and rejection.

 

     She had relationship problems. Perhaps she knew no other way to find love, maybe as child she was taught to prostitute because of her living status or  to use what you have to get what she could. This certain lady could of had a sexual abused past or simply didn't know her worth. Like many women reading this article, she struggled with the guilt of her past.  Jesus was not  concerned with her past, he was concerned with her future.
